Bioshock adaptation to be directed by 'Constantine' and 'The Hunger Games' director

Francis Lawrence – will produce Bioshock for Netflix. director of I Am Legend, Constantine and The Hunger Games.

Because Lawrence is currently working on the prequel The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Snakes and Songbirds, he will start filming Bioshock at a later date. Until then, Michael Green (Blade Runner 2049, Alien: Covenant, Logan) will write the script.

According to Deadline, the studio has been in talks with Lawrence since the spring, as he has experience working on film adaptations of novels, although this does not apply to video games.

Recall, the first part of the retro Bioshock, a futuristic first-person shooter with RPG and sci-fi elements, was released in 2007. The action takes place in the crumbling underwater city of Rapture. Its society is shattered by civil war, and many of its inhabitants are addicted to a serum that empowers them. In addition, people live in fear of genetically mutated and altered human beings – Big Daddies. Jack Ryan, the protagonist of the game, who survived a mysterious plane crash in the Atlantic Ocean, enters this world.

Since its release, the game has sold millions of copies, and it was followed by two sequels – BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite. They expanded on the dystopian landscape and also combined action, sci-fi and horror. It is not yet known whether the film adaptation of Bioshock will be based on the plot of a particular part.
