Biden says full-scale war in Middle East is unacceptable

A full-scale war that could break out in the Middle East is “unacceptable,” US President Joe Biden said on Sunday, September 29, amid Israel's military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen, CNN reports.

Answering a journalist's question about the need to prevent a regional conflict, Biden said: “It is necessary. This really needs to be avoided.”.

Biden confirmed plans to communicate with Netanyahu, noting that measures are already being taken to avoid a large-scale war in the region. He emphasized that the United States is taking additional measures to ensure the safety of its diplomats and embassies, but final decisions have not yet been made.

BAGNET notes that before Nasrallah's assassination, Netanyahu rejected a US and French offer of a 21-day ceasefire on the Israel-Lebanon border.

Israel launched a large-scale operation in Beirut, informing the US about it after it had already begun, which caused discontent among American officials.
