Time.news – The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has decided to launch new sanctions against the Revolutionary Police of Cuba, accused of “serious violations of human rights” in the repression of demonstrators, in a state of agitation since 11 July due to the economic crisis and the Covid pandemic. “The situation is intolerable,” Biden commented, who promised further measures “if there are no immediate changes”. The announcement came after the meeting between the president and the leaders of the Cuban exiles in the US.
“The Cuban people have the right to have the basic conditions of life that the failed system of the Communist Party has been unable to guarantee,” commented US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
In particular, the leaders of the Revolutionary National Police, the director Oscar Callejas Valcarcel and the deputy director Eddy Sierra Arias, are targeted.
