Baykar tested a new combat drone Kalkan Diha

The Turkish developer of unmanned aircraft systems Baykar presented the Kalkan Diha tactical drone with the ability to perform vertical takeoff and landing.

As stated in the release posted on the official portal of the Istanbul manufacturer, the Kalkan Diha drone is designed to be used at the tactical level by infantry units for reconnaissance, correction of fire and long-term patrols, reports ArmyInform.

The developer claims the ability to find the new UAV in the air for up to 6 hours, as well as conduct reconnaissance on  with a maximum height of 4.3 km.

Turkish designers equipped Kalkan Diha with a combined power plant. Such equipment consists of electric motors for vertical takeoff and landing, as well as an internal combustion engine.

When performing a flight task in economic mode, at cruising speed, it can develop a speed of up to 100 km/h, and the maximum is 130 km/h.

On-board UAV equipment allows flights up to 100 km from the operator's location. At the same time, in case of loss of communication, Kalkan Diha has an extended set of functions, including:
