Baykar received NATO contract for maintenance of Polish Bayraktar TB2

The NATO Support and Supply Agency (NSPA) has signed a contract with the Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar to support the fleet of Polish Bayraktar TB2.

This is stated in the press service of the Agency, writes  Militarny.

The official contract signing ceremony took place in Istanbul and became one of the key stages in the strengthening of defense cooperation between NATO and Poland.

This contract, concluded in coordination with the Polish Armed Forces Supply Inspection (AFSI), will provide maintenance for Polish UAVs Bayraktar TB2.

The agreement covers a three-year period with the possibility of extension for another two years.

Furthermore, the agreement has been designed with the possibility of other Bayraktar TB2 user countries joining it if necessary .

In 2021, Poland signed an agreement with the Turkish company Baykar Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. contract for the purchase of four unmanned aircraft complexes.

Each complex includes 6 Bayraktar TB2 drones (there will be 24 UAVs in total), related equipment, including mobile control stations, radars, simulators, a set of spare parts, as well as the provision of services maintenance and training of personnel.

The cost of one Bayraktar TB2 kit is about 67 million dollars.

The contract provides for a 24-month warranty, as well as the transfer of technologies that allow the Polish military to perform maintenance and repair of equipment, including engines, airframe, ground control stations and cameras.

As part of the concluded agreement, laser-guided ammunition MAM-L and MAM-C are also purchased.

In the version for the Polish army, the drones are equipped with radar with phased antenna arrays Osprey 30 of the Italian group Leonardo. Two radars were purchased for each complex.
