The Baykar company tested new ammunition on the Akıncı UAV

Baykar company tested the new Turkish-made Tolun-IIR air-to-ground ammunition on the Akıncı UAV.

This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to the company Baykar.

“The test for high accuracy of hitting with Tolun-IIR ammunition was passed”, – the company informed.

Tolun-IIR “air-to-ground” ammunition, which was developed and manufactured by the Turkish company Aselsan, – is a GPS/INS/IIR guided bomb capable of engaging targets within a 43 nautical mile (80 km) radius using retarding flaps. It has a high impression accuracy and a low level of side impression around the targets. Tolun-IIR is a smart system due to the integration of inertial measurement unit (IMU), global positioning system (GPS) and infrared seeker.

Thus, Tolun-IIR can to effectively capture a moving or stationary target under human guidance until the last moment before hitting, the message says. 

The weight of the ammunition is 120 kg, the length – 1800 mm, diameter – 185 mm.
