Batman fans rejoice! While a new game Batman: Arkham is due to arrive by the end of the year, we learned today that another game around the Dark Knight of Gotham is in development.
Batman: a game that will please movie buffs
For this end of 2024, DC Comics fans will no longer know where give some thought. Indeed, the new school year will start very strongly with the release of the HBO series The Penguin, scheduled for September 19 and set one week after the events of Matt Reeves' The Batman, with the main objective of preparing the second installment; on October 2, it will be Joaquin Phoenix's turn to make his big comeback as Arthur Fleck with Joker: Folie à Deux, which has long been one of the most anticipated films of the year; the game Batman:Arkham Shadow, scheduled for October 2024, should be a must-see for VR fans; finally, the animated series Creature Commandos by James Gunn will launch the DCU for good next December on Max, a few months before the release of the Superman film.
We learned today in an article published by The Puck that a The Batman game – taken from the universe developed by Matt Reeves – would be in development. For the moment without a title, the project has not yet been made official by Warner Bros. Discovery. However, the news does not seem at all crazy: first of all, The Warner Bros. group has repeatedly stated in recent months its desire to exploit its main licenses for the creation of TV series and video games. Then, Warner seems to have great confidence in Matt Reeves: several series related to The Batman are currently being developed, in parallel with the announced trilogy. We remember that Matt Reeves was one of the producers of the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader, developed by Ed Brubaker and Bruce Timm.
Finally, Matt Reeves' Batman played by Robert Pattinson lends himself perfectly to a video game. Indeed, the film was more focused on the Dark Knight's investigations in a corrupt and gothic Gotham than the previous iterations of the character. Furthermore, with the The Batman saga, Warner would have the opportunity to develop a real transmedia project around the character, with films (the The Batman trilogy), series (The Penguin), comics (The Riddler) and video games. Stay tuned!
