Bombers B- 52H will be able to carry nuclear weapons again

The US Congress is preparing a bill to convert 30 B-52H Stratofortress bombers to become part of the nuclear triad again. More than 10 years ago, these aircraft were modified within the framework of the Treaty on the Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Weapons (SNO-III), since then they could only carry non-nuclear ammunition. According to the >Eurasian Times, lawmakers are looking to bolster the United States' nuclear arsenal as the Nuclear Weapons Treaty expires in February 2026. Russia has already suspended its participation in the treaty, and China is rapidly increasing the production of warheads.

Critics of the bill believe that extending the service life of the fleet of B-52 bombers, put into service during the Cold War, will cost a lot of money and will turn into a new article expenses.
