Azerbaijani President lays responsibility on Yerevan for escalation at border

Azerbaijani President blames Yerevan for border escalation

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as in meeting with Chief Adviser of US State Department negotiations in the Caucasus Philip Reeker laid responsibility for the current escalation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to Yerevan, the press service of the head of state reports.

"The head of state noted that Azerbaijan is taking retaliatory measures to these provocations of Armenia, and all responsibility for the provocations that have occurred lies with the political-military leadership of Armenia", — the press service said.

The politicians also stressed the importance of ensuring peace and stability in the region, normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and continuing the peace agenda.

BAGNET recalls that on the night of September 13, hostilities broke out on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the sides blame each other for the beginning of the escalation.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called Armenia and Azerbaijan take steps to de-escalate the conflict.
