“Babir-3M” — modernized version of the BTR-70 armored personnel carrier, which has been produced since 1980. This advanced combat vehicle, which has been under development since 2013, was presented at the ADEX 2024 international exhibition, in Baku, Azerbaijan. It offers greater range of action and improved maneuverability in different areas.
According to the technical characteristics of “Babir-3M” has a total mass of 12,000 kg, designed for a crew of 10 people. The dimensions are 7535 mm in length, 2800 mm in width and 2320 mm in height. The machine is equipped with a diesel engine (KAMA3-740.11.240) with a maximum power of 240 hp. It develops a maximum speed of 95 km/h on the highway and consumes 48 liters of fuel per 100 km, which provides a range of 550 km.

According to the SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) arms trade database, Azerbaijan ordered 118 Russian-made BMP-3s, 100 T-90S main battle tanks delivered in 2013-2015, and 76 Russian-made tanks. BTR-82A 8×8 wheeled armored personnel carriers, delivered in 2017-2018.
