Due to the imposition of sanctions by the West, AvtoVAZ resumed only the production of simplified versions of LADA Granta and LADA Niva. Now the developers are planning to start producing a new automatic transmission.

It is worth noting that before this Granta models were equipped with Japanese-made automatic transmissions, Vesta and Xray, in turn, received a CVT by Jatco. The Russian concern has almost no time to develop its own transmission. In this regard, the company will have a new Chinese component supplier. Manufacturers intend to offer an eight-speed preselective “robot”.
Recently, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, announced that the production of automatic transmissions under license could be launched in the Russian Federation. The development of such a “machine” can begin at an enterprise in Togliatti. Most likely, the “automatic” on LADA vehicles will have to wait about 2 years.
