Authoritative reviewers name the best Android smartphones of 2024

Technology authority, The Verge, has updated its list of the best Android smartphones to buy in 2024. The authors traditionally did not make the tops and did not arrange the phones by location, but chose the best devices in different categories.

The best smartphones were chosen according to several criteria: longevity, screen quality, photo capability and the presence of wireless charging. Longevity refers to the strength of the case and the terms of support with updates. There were five nominations in total.

Best Android smartphone – Pixel 9

As noted in The Verge, the new Pixel has a couple of key changes compared to the Pixel 8: a larger 6.3-inch OLED display, a powerful Tensor G4 chipset, a larger battery, 12GB of RAM, and a dual rear camera with a new 48-megapixel sensor for ultra-wide-angle shooting.

There were no compromises. Wired charging in the phone, as before, is limited to 27 W, which is not enough for a device with such a price tag. Instead, Google offers seven years of OC updates and a whole bunch of AI features.

The best maximalist smartphone – Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

In the "superflame" Samsung is everything you could want in a modern phone, if you don't take into account the complex devices. It has a stylus, two telephoto cameras, a first-class Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a powerful battery and one of the best screens on the market.

The smartphone costs a lot, and it is also quite heavy, but there are no analogues on the market no, The Verge noted.

The best smartphone for those who don't need AI – OnePlus 12

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

The OnePlus 12 retails for $100 more than its predecessor, but it packs advanced Hasselblad cameras, improved water resistance, and wireless charging. And the combination of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 16 GB of RAM can compete with the best smartphones of 2024. However, there is no AI support here.

“If you want to wait out this AI hype cycle, but are still looking for a great phone, the OnePlus 12 might be just what you need,” the authors concluded.

The best foldable phone – Pixel 9 Pro Fold

The second generation compared to the first Pixel Fold has really changed radically – both outside and inside. The main screen in unfolded form offers a diagonal of 8 inches. External – 6.3 inches. In both cases, a top OLED matrix with a refresh rate of 120 Hz is used.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold is powerful, durable and versatile – for most people, such a device is unlikely to be useful, but for those who have decided to buy their first foldable phone, this is the best option of all available.

The best alternative to Google and Samsung – Nothing Phone 2

Experts have called this Android phone the epitome of a retro aesthetic unlike anything else on the market today. It is definitely not “top for its money”, but it is a good alternative to the big Android brands.

Other smartphones that deserve attention were noted separately. Including:

– A foldable Galaxy Z Flip 6  that uses the external 3.4-inch screen to display the clock, keyboard, notifications and more.

— thin and light OnePlus Open in the "book" form factor and a thoughtful interface for multitasking.

— Pixel 8A – if you're looking to get the most out of your $499, it's hard to beat Google's latest offering. It covers all the major features in a $499 phone while offering seven years of support and proprietary AI features.
