Australia imposes restrictions on Terrorgram Telegram channels

Australia has imposed sanctions on the Terrorgram Telegram channel network. Any interaction with Terrorgram (an online network that promotes white supremacy and racially motivated violence) will now be a criminal offense, with offenders facing up to 10 years in prison.

The country's government has imposed sanctions aimed at combating terrorist financing on a structure based solely on the Internet, for the first time. This follows similar steps by the UK and the United States.

Australia has also extended sanctions against four other far-right groups, including the “Russian Imperial Movement”.
