Currently, this car is almost never found on the roads. Tough environmental regulations in Europe do not allow this powerful car to be sold in large quantities. The Italian Lamborghini Huracan has a similar fate. Despite this, management understands that the vehicle lineup should offer the customer a wide range of choices, including those with a V10 engine. At the same time, the future strategy for the production of cars must be associated with environmental initiatives, otherwise it will not be possible to achieve success in the market. For this reason, Ingolstadt announced their intention to make the RS line a hybrid. Eckehard Kleindinst, Head of Product and Technology Communications, spoke about this.
Thanks to the emergence of an electric motor, it will be possible not only to comply with environmental standards, but also to make the car more powerful, but only if the old 10-cylinder power unit remains under the hood. It is not yet known whether it will be possible to retain this engine, but when developing a hybrid version of the R8, and Audi will probably take into account the positive experience gained with the creation of the e-tron model.
