Forecasters say severe weather will move into North Carolina and Virginia on Monday

Severe storms and tornadoes in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, at least fourteen people were killed on Sunday.

Seven people were killed in Cook County, Texas, near the Oklahoma border, where a tornado ripped through a rural area near a mobile home park late Saturday, authorities said. In addition, two people died in Oklahoma, where among the victims were guests at an outdoor wedding. Tens of thousands of residents of the region were left without electricity.

"The destruction is very serious", – Cook County Sheriff Ray Sappington told the Associated Press.

According to the sheriff, among the dead – two children, 2 and 5 years old. In the small community of Valley View in Cook County, which was hit hard, Sappington said three family members were found dead in a home.

At least five people died in Arkansas, including including a 26-year-old woman who was found dead near a destroyed home in Olvey, a small community in Boone County, said Daniel Bolen of the county's emergency management agency.

Another person died in Benton County, Arkansas. County Communications Director Melody Kwok said several other people were injured and that rescuers were still responding to calls.

"We are still conducting search and rescue efforts right now.", – she said.

Two more people died in Marion County, Arkansas.

Authorities also confirmed the deaths of two people in Mayes County, Oklahoma. Detailed information about the fatalities was not immediately available, said Mike Dunham, the county's deputy emergency management director.

The storm left hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in the path of the storms without power.
