The discovery was made by employees of the P.K.Sternberg State Astronomical Institute, Moscow State University. MV Lomonosov, analyzing the data obtained by the Caucasian Mountain Observatory. Studying the catalog of new stars, they drew attention to an object that has a mass 1.33 times the solar mass. This is a unique case for white dwarfs. The temperature of the luminary is also three times higher than the usual values and is 31 thousand degrees Kelvin. Scientists have already established that the star is only 3% less than Chandrasekhar's Reach. If she had overcome it, she would have died, exploding like some supernovae. Alexander Belinsky, Deputy Director of the Moscow State University, told about the reasons for the formation of a unique space body. According to him, this giant white dwarf was formed as a result of the merger of two stars, which is why it has such a high rotation speed. It turns around its axis in 6 minutes. Presumably, the absorption of the partner took place about 300 million years ago.
Despite the non-standard parameters and being at the turn, beyond which the destruction of the object can be frowned, astrophysicists do not assume the death of the star, since now there is nowhere to replenish the material supply. Now, over billions of years, it will slowly cool down and lose brightness. Experts intend to continue studying the object to find out the nature of its uniqueness.
