An attack that occurred at on board an Air Canada plane forces a landing in Winnipeg

On Wednesday, an Air Canada plane flying from Toronto to Calgary had to make an unscheduled stop in Winnipeg after a teenager 16-year-old assaulted a family member in mid-flight, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Flight 137 must have landed at Winnipeg's James Armstrong Richardson International Airport around 12:20 p.m. Still according to the RCMP, the teenager is from Grande Prairie, in Alberta.

Passengers and employees managed to subdue the youth who was then transported to hospital for a medical evaluation.

The victim, a man, was treated for minor physical injuries.

According to information from the RCMP, no other passengers on the flight required medical assistance.
