London's High Court has released WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has been in London's Belmarsh jail since 2019. He flew to Australia, where his family and children are staying, WikiLeaks representatives said. The organization confirmed the terms of the journalist's agreement with the US Attorney General, Reuters reports.

As part of the agreement with the US Attorney General, as ZMI wrote, Julian Assange frequently pleads guilty to charges of stealing and disclosing information about national defense – one count of indictment against him under 18.

At a hearing in the US court on June 26, at the request of the prosecutor, he was sentenced to, as expected, 62 months in prison. Accordingly, the journalist will be held in London for five years.

WikiLeaks is a website founded by Julian Assange in 2006 that specializes in publishing confidential information. In 2010, the site published materials related to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The US has charged a journalist with 18 articles for revealing classified information and compelling him to remove it. For these charges he faces 175 years of imprisonment.

Since June 2012, Julian Assange has been living on the territory of the Ecuadorian embassy in London. In April 2019, Ecuador released him from diplomatic relations. After this, the WikiLeaks founder was detained by British police and then transferred to Belmarsh International Airport. Afterwards, he managed to challenge extradition to the United States.
