Arsonist of military vehicle arrested in Zhytomyr on orders of Russian internet curators

Employees of the Security Service and the National Police detained an enemy accomplice who, in exchange for money, set fire to an AFU vehicle in Zhytomyr.

According to the enemy's plan, a series of arson attacks on police, CCC, and SBU vehicles was intended to destabilize the social situation in the region.

As law enforcement officers established, an 18-year-old student of a Zhytomyr school «caught» on the offer of easy earnings in one of the Telegram channels.

He agreed to cooperate and, following the instructions of the «curator», late at night he set fire to a military SUV previously agreed upon with an enemy intelligence officer.

To do this, acting according to the instructions, the attacker doused the front of the car with a flammable substance and set it on fire.

Expecting to receive the promised reward, the young man filmed the arson process and sent a video file «curator».

However, he did not receive the money. Instead, in the morning, SBU officers and police officers visited him.

Despite the attacker's attempts to «cover up the tracks», during the investigative actions, law enforcement officers found and seized clothing with evidence of the crime, remnants of a flammable substance, and a mobile phone with correspondence.

Based on the evidence collected, SBU investigators informed the Zhytomyr resident of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The suspect is in custody.

According to of the incriminated crime, he faces up to 8 years in prison.

The complex measures were carried out by the SBU officers in the Zhytomyr region together with the Main Police Department in the region under the procedural guidance of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office.
