Two men were arrested in a demonstration on Sunday. The police do not confirm which demonstration it was.

A 30-year-old man was arrested for hate-motivated assault during a protest Sunday near Yonge Street and Balmoral Avenue, police say.

In a press release issued Sunday evening, the Toronto Police Service indicates that the accused was allegedly seen shouting hate-motivated insults into a crowd of demonstrators. The accused allegedly pushed a protester, causing him to fall.

Police say the man resisted arrest and was in possession of a knife. He was charged with assault, assault with intent to resist lawful arrest or detention, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon, according to the release.

He is due in court on May 3, according to police.

In a separate press release from the Toronto police on Sunday evening, the police indicated that a man 25-year-old was also arrested on Sunday during a demonstration at the same intersection. Police say they were investigating a complaint that the accused had a knife concealed on his person and discovered a large knife under his clothing. The man is accused of carrying a concealed weapon, according to the press release.
