The US military tested the Vision 60 Q-UGV robot dog as part of exercises, dedicated to the fight against enemy drones.
During the Operation Hard Kill exercise at the US Army Fort Drum base, a Vision 60 Q-UGV robot dog from Ghost Robotics was spotted armed with an AR-15 rifle with artificial intelligence ( AI). Business Insider writes about it.
It is reported that the training is conducted by the 10th mountain division of the army and the Center for the Development of Weapons Command. The purpose of the event — provide the US Army and its partners with the opportunity to test anti-drone systems.
One of the training videos shows the Vision 60 Q-UGV robot dog running and maneuvering an AR-15 rifle, a guidance system and a GoPro-type camera mounted on the front of the body. According to the military, the rifle is equipped with artificial intelligence, potentially for automatic guidance.
Given the purpose of the exercise, the publication concluded that the robot dog was being tested as a means against drones. The American “robot dog” is supposed to detect and shoot down unmanned vehicles.
As the authors of the publication note, the mentioned device is similar to other robotic dogs created by units of the US Armed Forces. Earlier in the exercise, “robops” were seen accompanying a light infantry company for environmental reconnaissance.
