Really ? Are there people who fall in love when they hear that an author would rather not publish his book than give in to censorship?
Actually ? Famous media figure is dismayed when a public television host criticizes him for being a privileged straight white man?
Seriously? Are there people who have just discovered that at university, students want to re-educate their teachers?
For real ? There are still people who have not understood the strength of the wave woke sweeping over Quebec?
Coudonc, you hadn’t read Mathieu Bock-Côté?
It was all announced in his book The empire of political correctness, released in 2019!
BIG BROTHER, WITHOUT CELEBRITIES
Several unrelated events have caused a lot of talk in Quebec in recent weeks.
On Monday, on his Facebook page, author Maxime-Olivier Moutier described what he calls a case of censorship. He was in the final stages of editing his next book when someone in his publishing house panicked: “I’m being asked to take out texts, rewrite things, change. In order to be kind and respectful of all. […] I must submit in full to the new injunctions of my time, supported by the current edition, which I refuse to do ”.
Rather than publish a watered-down version of his book, he preferred … not to publish anything.
The editor of Press, François Cardinal, was invited to the show In the media at Télé-Québec, where the host, Marie-Louise Arsenault, among other things reproached him, with her little inquisitive tone, for having dared to write a column in which he only cited men.
After his stint, Cardinal wrote on social media that he had “felt like he was in court woke “.
I told you about this UQAM teacher who had been called “transphobic” because she had indicated her discomfort in replacing “they” and “they” by “ielles”.
Well, it seems that at UQAM, in another class, students intimidated a teacher by telling her that talking about men and women to describe people was also transphobic. And Martine Delvaux, herself a teacher at UQAM, sided with the students by saying that they are the ones who are right to impose a new morality !!
When I look at these three events, I am not surprised, or stunned, bewildered, or bewildered.
Because this war on common sense, this gangrene affecting the academic world, the media and the publishing world, is exactly and precisely what my friend and colleague Mathieu denounced in his book.
WE TOLD YOU!
It’s not just Mathieu. In The Journal of Montreal/Journal of Quebec, for years, my husband, Richard Martineau, Denise Bombardier, Joseph Facal, Steve E. Fortin, myself and other columnists, have denounced the rise of political correctness.
And the most ironic is that those who are today victims of woke are exactly those who reproached us for our warning chronicles.
Did you just open your eyes, folks?
