The Washington Post journalist Jeffrey Fowler decided to arrange a review of the smartwatch, and the device debuted in the middle of this month. It has been claimed that the Apple Watch 6 is capable of measuring blood oxygen levels. For maximum accuracy of the experiment, its author wore the gadget on the wrist. He also put on a medical pulse oximeter on his finger. In the end, the data obtained from the new Apple and the professional device was very different.

The first Apple Watch 6, which the expert tested, turned out to be defective at all. They showed an oxygen level in the range of 88%, which is a critically low indicator that can indicate lung damage. After a couple of minutes, the SpO2 content rose to 95%. The journalist believes that it is impossible to perceive a smart watch from an “apple” brand as an accurate medical device. The claims about the mentioned function are most likely a marketing ploy.
