Apple to pay $20 million in compensation for swollen Apple Watch batteries

Apple has settled a class action lawsuit filed against the company in 2019.

The lawsuit alleged that the batteries in several Apple Watch models swelled, causing various problems, including the display popping out of the case.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and alleged that the issue affected owners of Apple Watch Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3.

All this time Apple denied any wrongdoing, but eventually agreed to settle the lawsuit for $20 million: affected users should receive payments.

Apple Watch owners will be able to receive compensation from $20 to $50 if they reported problems with the battery swelling within the specified time period. As the WccfTech portal notes, most victims will likely ignore this offer because of the amount of compensation.
