Apple's first foldable device may not go into mass production in the expected 2025, according to new comments from Haitong analyst Jeff Pu.

In a note to investors, Pu said he continues to expect Apple's product line to strengthen with devices such as the iPhone 17 and Apple Intelligence. This even happens despite some “delays” of Apple's foldable iPad.
When investors or analysts use the term “delayed” in relation to a product release, they usually mean that the expected release date has been pushed back either because of a delay in development or production, or because the company decided to postpone the launch for other reasons.
In May, Pu announced that the first assembled Apple devices will reach mass production in 2025 and 2026 after increasing evidence of foldable devices in Apple's supply chain.
At the time, an analyst said Apple would likely release a large-screen foldable iPad or MacBook in the interim before launching a more mainstream foldable iPhone in late 2026.< /p>
Pu said that one Apple's foldable device with a 20.3-inch display will begin production in late 2025, earlier than previously expected. However, Pu now believes that Apple will enter the foldable market in the second quarter of 2026 due to “display durability issues”.
