Apple is working on a 'home accessory' with the Apple A18 chip

Journalists from MacRumors discovered a new identifier in Apple's code called HomeAccessory 17.1. It is probably a new HomePod-type device, the identifier of which — AudioAccessory.

Number "17.1" after the device name in its ID means that the device will be equipped with Apple's new A18 chip. We will remind that it recently became known that the company will release five new iPhones with the A18 processor.

Using the A18 chip will allow the device to work correctly with Apple Intelligence, which requires high performance.

The code also found mentions that the HomeAccessory, like the HomePod, will run on a software variant of tvOS. Perhaps this system will be homeOS, the development of which was rumored earlier this year.

The new device may be announced this fall at the presentation of the iPhone 16. In addition, Apple may imagine updating the Apple TV with a more powerful chip and improved streaming capabilities.
