Apple is finally preparing to present a foldable iPhone: date and first insights

The market for foldable smartphones has slowed down, and consumer interest in such devices has decreased. However, this may change when Apple releases a foldable iPhone clamshell.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine (Styler project) with reference to the MacRumors website, which specializes in news, rumors and information related to Apple products.

When will Apple release a foldable iPhone

In a report on the state of the foldable smartphone market, analyst Ross Young claims that Apple plans to enter this segment in the second half of 2026. “Apple's dominant position in the flagship smartphone market” could significantly influence the growth of foldable devices, making 2026 a record year for the market.

The analyst predicts that the foldable smartphone market will grow by 30 percent in 2026, followed by a steady growth of 20 percent in 2027 and 2028.

Some analysts suggest that the device could debut in September 2026.

First specifications of the revolutionary iPhone

The first foldable iPhone is expected to have a screen size of 7.9 to 8.3 inches and a “foldable” design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. This form factor allows the device to fold vertically, offering a full-size iPhone when unfolded, and a compact and easy-to-carry device when folded.
