What gadgets Apple will not show us in October – November/Macrumors
Apple promised “an exciting week of announcements”. It kicks off on Monday, and judging by the teaser image, the new Macs will no doubt feature prominently.
However, there are some hardware upgrades on Apple's roadmap that are unlikely will be part of these announcements. Macrumors has revealed what not to expect from Apple's series of product announcements that will take place during the last week of October and November.
M4 MacBook Air
In March 2024, Apple released updated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models equipped with the Apple M3 chip, and the company will soon start production of the M4 versions, which are scheduled to be released in early 2025, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports. No new design changes are planned for the MacBook Air models, and the main focus will be on the M4 chip. The machines will go on sale next year between January and March.
M4 Mac Studio
Apple plans to update Mac Studio after the release of the M4-based MacBook Air in early 2025. It will be powered by a variation of the M4 processor, which could be the M4 Ultra or Max chip. The current model is available in M2 Max and M2 Ultra variants. Mark Gurman claims that the Mac Studio was supposed to be updated at the same time as the MacBook Air, but now the update will take place between March and June. In previous posts, he said that Mac Studio would be released in mid-2025, so it's unclear what has changed.
M4 Mac Pro
Apple last updated the Mac Pro in June 2023, adding the M2 Ultra chip and officially ending the transition from Intel chips. According to Mark Gurman, Apple will refresh the Mac Pro in the summer of 2025. Like the Mac Studio, the next Mac Pro will skip the M3 series. Instead, it will be powered by a top-of-the-line M4 chip codenamed “Hidra”. Judging by the description of the chip, it can be positioned as “ultra” or “extreme”. It can also support up to 512GB of storage, which is way beyond the current 192GB limit.

According to Marc Gurman, Apple plans to release a new iPhone SE with Apple Intelligence support early next year, with the launch most likely in March or April. The fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to sport a similar design to the base iPhone 14, with rumored specs to include a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a new A-series chip, a USB-C port, a single 48-megapixel the main camera, 8 GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence and a 5G modem designed by Apple. Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple's suppliers will begin mass production in December.
iPad< /h2>
Apple has already updated the iPad Air and iPad Pro this year, and earlier this month the company released the new iPad mini 7, making the entry-level iPad the most likely candidate for an update. However, don't expect an announcement next week.
According to Mark Gurman, Apple's most affordable iPad model will receive an 11th generation update with Apple Intelligence capabilities in late 2025. The chart indicates a significant amount of time has passed since the last entry-level iPad update, which occurred in October 2022. The delay with the update may be related to the technical requirements to implement AI capabilities in a budget device costing $349.
AirPods Pro 3
Although Apple's AirPods Pro 2 have been released for more than two years ago, they continue to dominate the wireless headphone market, but according to Gurman, an update isn't expected until next year. 2025's AirPods Pro will get a new design and a faster chip, and the headphones will inherit Apple's upcoming new hearing health features.
