Apple has introduced a new feature that allows users to transfer digital purchases from one Apple ID to another. This solution will be useful for those who have multiple accounts for iCloud and media content.
This is reported by MacRumors.
How the transfer works
According to information published by Apple in a new reference document, users can combine their purchases into one main account. The list of transferred content includes apps, music, books, movies, and TV shows purchased through the secondary account.
To use the feature, you must:
- have access to both accounts (primary and secondary);
- use the same email address, phone number, and password;
- enable two-factor authentication;
- make sure the accounts are registered in the same country;
- make sure there are no remaining balances on the secondary account funds.
The transfer procedure is carried out through the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. To do this, go to the Media & Purchases section, select View Account, and tap Transfer Purchases.
Once the process is complete, the secondary account will no longer be able to be used to make purchases. All subscriptions, payment methods, and even the Up Next queue on your Apple TV will be transferred to the primary account.
Currently, the ability to transfer purchases between accounts is not available for users in the European Union, the United Kingdom, and India.
