Today, on Ukraine's Independence Day, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in Kyiv on a surprise visit.

President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Johnson, reports Office of the President of Ukraine.

"Today I thanked the Prime Minister for all the support we have received from him as a leader and society in Britain – our reliable partner. This help really brings our victory closer. And there will definitely be a victory, we are sure of it. Victory of freedom in Ukraine – it's a victory for freedom in Europe,” he said.

 An unexpected visit from a friend: what Boris Johnson brought to KyivAs noted, during the meeting, the leaders discussed the defense needs of Ukraine, the situation around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, and the treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

“We honor those who died at the front from Putin's cruelty. I admire the courage of Ukrainians who continue to live their lives. Now we must increase our support for Ukraine,” he said.

Johnson also noted the importance of preventing the easing of sanctions against Russia and that his state would continue to support Ukraine in every possible way in the fight against the Russian Federation. The British prime minister stressed that negotiations with Russia should not be started while it is violating Ukraine's territorial integrity and killing its citizens.

“There is only one way this war can end” – Ukraine will win. And the UK will be by your side,” he said.

According to Johnson, the UK will help rebuild Ukraine: “We will heal your towns and villages from the scars of this terrible war. We will make the country a flower that will be noticeable to the whole world.
