On the Russian large anti-submarine ship “Admiral Levchenko” a fire occurred in the Barents Sea, the engine installation caught fire.

As the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces Dmitry Pletenchuk said, the “struggle for survivability” is currently ongoing on the ship, and there are also several hundred crew on it. The speaker says that the cause of the fire — in the fire of one of the engine installations.

«This happens when a “superpower” receives sanctions from Ukraine and cannot independently service engines produced in Nikolaev. 10 years were not enough to solve this problem,” — Pletenchuk said.

«Admiral Levchenko» — Russian destroyer of the Udaloy class, adopted by the USSR Navy in 1988. Now it is part of the Russian Northern Fleet. Anti-submarine ships, which include the Admiral Levchenko, are designed to combat submarines as well as air targets.
