An Estonian acrobat crossed the Bosphorus strait on a rope for the first time in history

Estonian athlete Jaan Rus became the first person in the world to cross the border between Asia and Europe on a tightrope over the Bosphorus.

This happened on July 15 under during the Continental Pass event in Istanbul, the Turkish daily newspaper Hürriyet reports.

Estonian acrobat Jaan Rus traveled a distance of more than one kilometer from Asia to Europe on a rope suspended over the Bosphorus bridge at a height of 165 meters above sea level.

Yaan Rus managed to cross from the Asian continent to the European continent in 47 minutes on a 1,074-meter special rope over the Bridge of Martyrs on September 15 across the Bosphorus at an altitude of 165 meters above sea level, the message says.

It is noted that the acrobat became the first person to make a transcontinental transition on a rope. Speaking after the event, Jaan Rus noted that he feels happy.

Bosphorus has a thousand-year cultural value and incredible natural beauty. Combining this with variable weather conditions and strong sea currents, it has become a unique location for a ropeway. I am very happy to make this historic transition, said Rus.

The event was organized with the assistance of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the General Directorate of Highways of Turkey.
