An enemy agent who transmitted data about military facilities was exposed in Chernihiv region, – prosecutor's office

Under the procedural guidance of the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a citizen of Ukraine was detained who collected and transmitted information about military facilities to Russian intelligence. The woman was caught red-handed while photographing the location of a radar station on the outskirts of one of the settlements in the region.

According to the investigation, in November 2024, the suspect began communicating on the Telegram messenger with a representative of the aggressor state. For a monetary reward, she was supposed to help collect data on the locations of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city of Chernihiv and nearby settlements. In an effort to earn some extra money, the woman agreed to carry out the curator's tasks.

Later, she set off following the GPS coordinates previously determined by the Russian representative to determine the location of the military facility. Arriving at the designated position, the suspect took photos and videos of the radar station and the area near it.

She sent the collected information and filmed materials to the Russian curator using the Telegram messenger.

Money for «work done» the attacker received on a bank card.

During the search, law enforcement officers seized a mobile device with evidence of illegal activity.

The woman was informed of suspicion of treason committed under martial law.

At the request of the prosecutor, the suspect was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail.

Investigative actions are ongoing. The detection measures were carried out by the Military Counterintelligence Department of the SBU together with investigators of the SBU Office in Chernihiv Region.
