An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 was recorded in the east of Turkey. The epicenter was the Eshilurt district of the city of Malatya. More than 20 people were injured as a result of the tremors. It reports Anadolu.
According to the Directorate for Combating Natural Disasters and Emergency Situations (AFAD), the earthquake occurred on Thursday evening at a depth of 7 kilometers.
The shaking was felt in Malatya, as well as in Kahramanmaraş, Adiaman, Sanliurfa and Gaziantep. It is noted that many townspeople took to the streets due to the tremor.
As the Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Erlikai said, 22 people were slightly injured during the earthquake.
"At this moment we have no human casualties. 22 of our citizens received minor injuries due to fear, panic and jumping from a height,” he said. In addition, at least one abandoned building was destroyed, and 2 more were heavily damaged. damaged.
As Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca later clarified, 23 people were injured: 22 in Malatya and 1 in Adiaman.
