American university students face trial over TikTok trend

Five University of Massachusetts students are accused of conspiring to lure a man to their campus via a dating app. The teens allegedly attacked the victim while following the TikTok trend «Catch the Predator».

Assumption University students have been charged with kidnapping. A sixth defendant appeared in juvenile court. One of the suspects has been charged with witness intimidation. Another student was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The 22-year-old victim said the 18-year-old girl invited him to her place through the dating app Tinder.

After he arrived on campus, the defendants allegedly began calling him a pedophile.

The young man told police that at least 25 people chased him before he managed to escape.
