High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) from the United States arrived in Ukraine, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said on Thursday.
“Thanks to my US colleague and friend Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for these powerful tools! Summer will be hot for the Russian occupiers. And the last one for some of them,” he wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Russian troops are seeking to encircle Ukrainian forces defending the front-line eastern city of Lisichansk, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff Oleksiy Gromov said at an online briefing on Thursday.
According to him, “the enemy does not stop trying … to create conditions for the encirclement of parts of our troops in the Lisichansk area.”
On Thursday, three Russian cruise missiles were fired at Nikolaev. Two more missiles were shot down by Ukrainian air defenses near Odesa, according to a statement from the Ukrainian armed forces.
One civilian was wounded as a result of strikes on Mykolaiv.
