American developers presented the revolutionary Coyote drone, which can destroy 10 UAVs at the same time

American unmanned systems Coyote manufactured by Raytheon have proven their effectiveness in real combat conditions, destroying 170 enemy drones during operations in different regions of the world. This is reported by the command of the US Army, writes Army Recognition. The systems are actively used in the areas of responsibility of the US Central, African and European Commands to protect military bases and critical infrastructure from attacks by enemy drones. /p>

The current version of the Coyote Block 2 is equipped with a jet engine and warhead to destroy targets. Interceptor drones are part of a complex LIDS system that combines radars, sensors and various means of intercepting aerial targets.

Technical characteristics of the Coyote UAS:

  • cruising flight speed 102 km/h,
  • maximum flight height 9.1 km,
  • communication range 93 km, working time 1 hour, weight — 5.9 kg,
  • length — 0.91 m,
  • wingspan 1.5 m.

The US Army plans to significantly expand the fleet of these systems by 2029. In parallel, a new version of Block 3 with electronic warfare capabilities is being developed.

The military is also testing additional means of countering enemy drones, including laser systems and high-power microwave installations to to create a multi-level system of protection against air threats.

According to experts' assessments, the successful use of Coyote confirms the growing role of anti-drone systems in modern conflicts and the need for constant improvement of means air defense.
