American developers presented the innovative ADAM remote demining system

The Washington Post  reports: the US may transfer to Ukraine the high-tech ADAM remote demining system, which will significantly strengthen defense capability of the Armed Forces. ADAM consists of 155 mm shells containing 36 M67 or M72 anti-personnel mines. The mines have a self-destruct mechanism (4 or 48 hours) and become inactive after 14 days due to low batteries. Effective damage radius — up to 7 meters.

When falling to the ground, mines release sensor wires (“whiskers”) that activate the detonator. The fragmentary element explodes at a height of 1.5 meters, striking the enemy's manpower. One ADAM projectile can scatter mines over an area of up to 600 meters, and the firing range of an artillery system, such as the M109, reaches 17.6 km.

This system, developed by the United States in 1975, created for the conditions of full-scale combat operations and is part of the FASCAM family, which also includes those transferred to Ukraine RAAM anti-tank mines. The Armed Forces already use more than 60,000 RAAM shells, which confirms the effectiveness of such systems.

The use of ADAM will be an important reinforcement for deterring enemy infantry assaults, especially considering Russia's massive use of various anti-personnel mines. The transfer of these weapons will allow Ukraine to defend its positions more effectively, using modern technologies.
