The US armed forces use the advanced remote demining system M136 Volcano, which allows create large-scale minefields in minutes. The system, ordered also for the defense of Taiwan, is available in two modifications — ground (Ground Volcano) and air (Air Volcano), writes Army Inform.
The basis of the system is the M87A1 ammunition, which contains a combination of anti-tank and personnel mines. Each container includes six anti-tank mines with magnetically induced detonators sensitive to the movement of metal objects and one anti-personnel mine capable of using streamers up to 12 meters long.
< p class="whitespace-pre-wrap break-words">The ground version of Volcano is mounted on Oshkosh Defense HEMTT A4 M977A4 trucks.
