The American V-280 Valor tiltrotor, developed by Bell Textron, is undergoing a new phase of testing. The advanced machine, created to replace the UH-60 Black Hawk multi-purpose helicopters, demonstrates unique capabilities in combining speed, maneuverability and vertical take-off, reports Army Inform.
The American UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, developed by Sikorsky Aircraft, has become a legend of military aviation due to its versatility, durability and ability to perform a variety of tasks. Designed in the 1970s to replace the Huey helicopter, it incorporated lessons learned by the United States during the Vietnam War and received improved survivability and functionality.
The V-280 features tiltrotor technology, allowing the tiltrotor to reach speeds of over 520 km/h, significantly exceeding the capabilities of traditional helicopters. In addition, it has a greater flight range – up to 3,900 km, which provides an advantage in strategic mobility.
During testing, the Valor demonstrated high stability in the air, ease of control, and the ability to quickly transport troops or cargo. It is expected to become the basis for future air operations, providing support not only to the US Army, but also to its allies.
It is expected that after completing all stages of testing, the V-280 Valor will enter service by the mid-2030s, replacing outdated models and increasing the combat effectiveness of American troops.
