American AGM-183 ARRW speed and range revealed

The AGM-183A Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) hypersonic cruise missile will fly at an average speed of 6.5 to 8 Mach numbers over a range of hundreds of kilometers, The Drive reports.

The American edition discloses that the weapon will cover the distance of 1000 miles (more than 1600 kilometers) in 10-12 minutes. The first AGM-183A ARRW will receive the B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers (each aircraft will be able to carry four such missiles).

The publication reminds that the initial combat readiness of the weapon is scheduled for September 2022. According to The Drive, this American missile was a response to similar developments in Russia and China.

In March, the American company Lockheed Martin showed an image of a promising “super-fast” (or hypersonic) missile system AGM-183A ARRW. In February, US President Donald Trump announced that the country “has super-fast missiles.”

In June 2019, the American B-52H Stratofortress strategic bomber made its maiden flight with the AGM-183A ARRW hypersonic aeroballistic missile.
