These great convenience stores are just around the corner, in your kitchen.
Cream of tartar
This powder generally used in the confection of pastries is excellent for cleaning old stained tablecloths. In a tub, soak the tablecloths in hot water with the addition of two to three tablespoons of cream of tartar. Leave it on overnight before washing it with your usual detergent. Do not use cream of tartar in a porcelain or acrylic sink as it will damage the finish.
Mix equal parts cornstarch and lukewarm water to remove a blood stain on a mattress. Apply the paste to the stains and let dry completely before removing this starch crust.
Sugar and vegetable oil
The combination of oil and sugar will clean grease and paint stained hands while leaving hands clean and hydrated.
The meat tenderizer
This product, which is found in the spice department in supermarkets, eliminates formula milk stains on mom’s and baby’s clothes. Simply rub the spots with this powder diluted in a few drops of water. Leave it on for about ten minutes before washing the garment with the usual detergent.
Surprisingly, but a glass of milk poured slowly over a stain of tomato sauce on a carpet or upholstered furniture can neutralize the stain. Leave on for a few minutes before blotting with absorbent paper.
The good idea
Quite miraculous, mayonnaise removes graffiti executed with wax crayons on furniture and wooden floors. Gently brush the surface before blotting it.
