“It’s a good result for me today (Saturday) and I’m really happy to have completed the course. I hadn’t finished the race for three races in a row and it was starting to bother me mentally. It’s hard on morale when that happens and that’s why my goal was simply to finish the course, ”said Gagnon, in an interview with Sportcom.
In the end, Gagnon concluded 1.37 seconds behind the winner, the Italian Soffia Goggia (1 min 27.75 s). The latter edged Switzerland’s Lara Gut-Behrami (+0.27 seconds) and Italy’s Elena Curtoni (+0.60 seconds) to collect her fourth victory of the campaign.
A third and final event is scheduled for Sunday at the World Cup in Crans Montana, when the participants will set off for a super-G. Gagnon promises to use the same kind of approach for the occasion.
“It will be a very different event and I don’t want to take unnecessary risks. It’s a good step for me to get out of this bad streak and I want to continue on the right track. I want to attack and finish the race as I did today ”, she concluded.
