The Montreal Alouettes have signed nine American players, including defensive end Datone Jones, a former NFL first-round pick.
Jones, six-foot-two, 241 pounds, comes to Montreal after spending seven seasons in the NFL, who was one on the 26th.e 2013 draft overall pick by the Green Bay Packers, with whom he played four seasons. He also wore the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders uniforms.
In 68 games in the NFL, the 30-year-old has 57 solo tackles and 25 assists, in addition to amassing ten sacks, knocking down eight assists and intercepting two more.
The Los Angeles native played his college career with the UCLA Bruins.
The team also initialed deals with US linebackers Romeo Finley (Miami), Eli Mencer (Albany) and Tre Watson (Maryland), US defensive linemen Lord Hyeamang (Columbia), Curtis Cothran (Penn State) and Jamal. Davis (Akron). US defensive backs Rodney Randle Jr. (Lamar) and Ahmad Thomas (Oklahoma) have also been signed.
