Almost indistinguishable from a human: Introducing a new humanoid robot with ChatGPT support

The Realbotix company has developed a humanoid robot-companion Melody, which is distinguished by wide functionality and adaptability. It is planned to be presented in detail at the CES 2025 electronics exhibition, reports Interesting Engineering.

The publication shared that Melody is the company's most advanced robot. It has received advanced motor technology that provides excellent smoothness of movements.

It is noted that the P-series servo motors developed by Dynamixel can provide smooth, more fluid and human-like movements. In addition, the robot can be easily assembled and disassembled, so it can even be packed in a suitcase.

Realbotix also used a patented “skin technology” that has been refined for more than two decades to make it look and feel like the real thing, the publication added.

Another feature of Melody is an improved eye tracking and object recognition system. This is thanks to the advanced microcameras built into the robot's “eyes,” the publication emphasized.

In addition, the robot's open source code allows it to be integrated with proprietary Realbotix AI software or third-party ones, such as ChatGPT from OpenAI. Melody will be compatible with thousands of artificial intelligence platforms, the company said.

“Melody was created to have robots that are easy to travel with and can be modified for different forms of personal interaction,” said Realbotix CEO Andrew Kigel.

The publication emphasized that the cost of Melody will be about $ 150,000 after it goes into production.
