The specialist believes that the introduction of artificial intelligence into the combat activities of the US Air Force is still far from reality. At the same time, it “looks beautiful on paper”, and a lot of time will pass before its practical implementation. At the same time, the Pentagon is determined to carry out widespread implementation of the control system for the fourth generation F-16 multifunctional fighter. We are talking about the complete replacement of the pilot's actions with AI-generated algorithms. Mark Lewis, head of engineering programs at the US Department of Defense, believes that it is too early to talk about the introduction of such technologies, it is necessary to consider this topic in the framework of the pilot's cooperation with artificial intelligence.
Russian development has its advantages. We are talking about the ability of the pilot to control the machine using an electronic assistant. In the United States, they rely on the control of an AI plane, which makes decisions for a person. In the Russian development, the pilot himself determines how to act based on the analysis of information supplied by electronic devices and algorithms.
The “Second Pilot” available in the Su-57 provides assistance in modern air combat. At the same time, the assigned tasks are clearly performed, allowing a person not to be distracted by secondary functions. Earlier, military expert Yuri Knutov accused the United States of putting pressure on buyers of the Russian Su-57 fighter.
