Al-Hilál wants a record fee for Mbappé, offering more than seven billion crowns

Footballer Paris St. Germain Kylian Mbappé, October 11, 2022.

Riyadh – Saudi Arabian football club al-Hilal sent Paris Saint-Germain a record offer of 300 million euros (about 7.25 billion crowns) for the transfer of star striker Kylian Mbappé. This was reported by the AP agency, according to which the Parisian big club itself confirmed the contact.

If Mbappé and the club agree to the transfer, the 24-year-old French world champion would become the most expensive player in history. The record is still held by his Brazilian teammate Neymar, for whom PSG paid 222 million euros in 2017.

Mbappé's departure has been talked about since June, when the PSG management announced that it would not extend the expiring contract. He could leave for free after the 2023/24 season. The team's management left their biggest star out of the nomination for the pre-season tour to Asia and fueled speculation that they will try to sell her before the start of the year.

The media has been speculating mainly about the interest of Real Madrid for a long time, but now al-Hilál has entered the game. After Cristiano Ronaldo's winter arrival at Al-Nasr, a number of other stars headed to Saudi Arabia for lucrative contracts, including current Ballon d'Or winner Karim Benzema. Argentinian Lionel Messi preferred the North American MLS and engagement at Inter Miami.
