Agreement in principle between Air Transat and the union

An agreement in principle has been reached between Air Transat and the union which represents the air carrier's 2,100 flight attendants, the Canadian Union of Flight Attendants announced Sunday evening. Public Service (CUPE).

In a press release, the union specified that general union meetings will take place in the coming days in order to present the content of the agreement in principle aimed at renewing the collective agreement to the flight attendants concerned. Union members will then vote.

Recall that the collective agreement for these flight attendants based at the Montreal (YUL) and Toronto (YYZ) airports ) matured on October 31, 2022. Trading began approximately six months later.

An agreement in principle was reached between the parties on December 14, while the threat of a strike loomed for January 3, but ultimately the strike was not called.

However, just before Christmas, union members rejected 98.1% of the #x27;agreement in principle regarding the renewal of the collective agreement. CUPE then reported that the salary increases, considered insufficient, irritated its members.

CUPE said it would not make any comment until its members become aware of the agreement in principle.
