We told you about it a few weeks ago: former members of Studio Ghibli have produced a new film, which has just been added to the Netflix catalog, which has the exclusive rights to it. And the least we can say is that it is praised!

After Ni No Kuni, this new Netflix film will remind you of Studio Ghibli (12 tweets)

A film by former members of Ghibli

Following the (relative) box office failures ofThe Wind Rises(2013) by Hayao Miyazaki,The Tale of Princess Kaguyaby Isa Takahata (2013) andMemories of Marnie(2014) by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, Studio Ghibli closed its doors for a few years. We learned many years later that it was to better regain strength, and the studio was secretly preparing the magnificentThe Boy and the Boy ;ron, Hayao Miyazaki's latest masterpiece released in 2023.

For his part, Hiromasa Yonebayashi and other former Ghibli collaborators took advantage of it. to found their own company: the Ponoc studio. After a first feature film (Mary and the Witch's Flower) and a patchwork of short films (Modest Heroes) released at internationally on Netflix, the Ponoc studio has just released a brand new animated film:L'Imaginaire (or The Imaginaryin English ), by Yoshiyuki Momose– former key facilitator on several films by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, before trying his hand at the production withNiNoKuni-, written by Yoshiaki Nishimura – collaborator of Hayao Miyazaki onHowl's Moving Castle and of Isa Takahata on< em>The Tale of Princess Kaguya.

The film, which explores the relationship between children and their imaginary friends, seems to claim Studio Ghibli heritage. Released this Friday, July 5, 2024 on Netflix a few months after its Japanese release,L'Imaginaire seems to be very appreciated. spectators, who show their emotion.

78. The Imaginary

A beautiful, & incredibly emotional film with a wonderful ensemble of creative and, for lack of a better word, imaginative characters. The creativity this film exudes both in it's designs and it's plot can't be over stated. Highly recommend it, it's on Netflix pic.twitter.com/I3ENXoxabw

The Imaginary – a well animated movie about the power and creativity of a child’s imagination and how we lose that imagination as we get older. It’s a studio ghibli like movie and pretty good story wise too. Also it’s based on a novel with the same name. (Netflix) pic.twitter.com/Bkbn10cR3k
