They directed users to the pages of technical support, from where harmful software was placed on Discord, Dropbox and Github.
< P > Although the exact mechanism of infection is not revealed, fraudulent sites proposed to download programs that contained a malicious code. Software could steal information or provide remote access to the device.< P > Attack used signed certificates for masking. As of January 2025, Microsoft found 12 certificates that have already been recalled. The second stage of attack included collecting system data, browser activity tracking and open tabs.
